Humans have evolved to be consumed by the busyness of the modern-day world, resulting in misalignment to the natural rhythms around us. And yet, there is a deep yearning for connection beyond the human world to be part of a bigger ecosystem. Many people long for guidance that leads them in a fulfilling direction, but the art of learning how to slow down enough to listen to Nature’s wisdom has mostly been ignored.
Through a decolonized lens, this workbook invites a shift from viewing the natural world merely as a resource to be utilized, to recognizing Nature as a profound source of guidance and inspiration. Nature can help more deeply explore what it means to be human through attuning to natural rhythms, processes, patterns, and systems. Nature’s wisdom is already embedded within your day to day life, whether it may be a houseplant, a pet, the weather, or a tree you regularly pass (but may have never said hello to). This class will help you to slow down and listen to the lessons Nature has already taught you.
The focus of this class is around building curiosity through an acceptance perspective that fosters intentional interaction with other humans. This class purposefully does not pull from other cultural practices related to Nature, but rather offers guided reflections and questions to help you cultivate your own unique mentorship with Nature. By learning from Nature how to better connect to your environment, you can also improve your ability to cultivate more sustainable and restorative practices in your life.
Applications of Nature’s wisdom explored in this workbook may be applied to personal growth, as well as advance professional skills especially for jobs focused on helping others (e.g. therapists, teachers, medical professionals).
This is not a “how-to” class with step-by-step instructions to optimize your mentorship with Nature. Instead, this class is intended to acknowledge and help promote your already-established unique relationship with Nature to foster an authentic mentorship.
